Description:
All varieties are in principle non-branching F1 hybrids bred
for high cut-flower production, with strong stems and upright necks that do
not bend easily. The flowers can have little pollen, but normally under good
growing and cultural conditions there are no pollen, they are of a medium to
large size with "black" centers. Suitable for glasshouse and outdoor
use.
The less sensitivity for day length makes Sunrich series the most widely
grown major variety with in general the best prices.
Sowing:(depending from growers situation and equipment (additional light etc)
Under glass from week 50 till 33. Sowings
from week 50 till week 6 are in general of a poor quality due to lack of light
and temperature. Assimilation lightening will result in better quality but the
economics need to be examined.
In general the crop needs a day length of
14 hours or longer until the fourth or fifth leaf pair. With short days (11
or less hours day length) will initiate flowering.
Outdoor under cover week 9-13
Outdoor (general) week 14-26. Flower production comes on the market from week 27 until leaf quality becomes unacceptable. Flower size from outdoor production is somewhat larger (15-20 cm.) and of deeper color than from under glass.(12-15 cm)
Seed can be direct sown or the plants raised in plugs and transplanted; in this case the plants are ready to transplant two to three weeks after sowing.
Plant density is approximately 35-40
plants per gross (bruto) M 2
Number of flowers that can be cut as quality
flowers is about 27 -30.
Crop production time varies with the
season and variety but is something like nine weeks in summer and up to 11-12
weeks in spring and autumn.
Flowers should be cut when almost (3/4) open.
General facts/ hints:
Germination temp. 18-20 C. After 2-3 weeks
drop temp. to approx. 15 C
Watering frequently until plants have reached
a length of 30 cm. Further on: very little.
Fertilizing: it is advisable
to test the soil before planting. Patent Kali (MgO2, K2O) can be used as basic.
Manganese Sulfate and Potassium Nitrate after the plants are established well
in order to control stem length. PH should be 6.0 - 6,5. With Alar or B9 the
growth can be controlled with 2-3 gram /ltr.
